A $45,000 Thanksgiving dinner that'll have you saying 'I do'

It’s an elaborate and expensive Thanksgiving feast that will have you hearing wedding bells.

The Old Homestead Steakhouse in New York City has outdone itself for the second year in a row with another decadent dinner that will set you back $45,000.

You get the turkey and all the fixings, but nestled inside the bird is an emerald cut diamond engagement ring.

Co-owners Marc and Greg Sherry say the idea came to them years ago when comedian and actor Jackie Gleason once asked if anyone’s gotten engaged at the restaurant on Thanksgiving.

“From Thanksgiving to Valentine’s Day is when most people propose. This is someone who wants to impress his future bride,” explained co-owner, Marc.

The once-in-a-lifetime meal that feeds eight is made with some of the finest ingredients from around the world. It includes a roasted free-range, organically raised turkey, seasoned with secret exotic spices and basted with artisan butter and imported extra virgin olive oil. The stuffing includes prized Wagyu beef imported from Japan’s Gunma prefecture, Foie gras and sourdough bread.

There’s also cranberry-orange relish made with organic cranberries that are infused with Grand Marnier, imported aged balsamic vinegar and a touch of Chateau Mouton Rothschild.

Among the other extravagances: creamy mashed potatoes made with Swedish moose house cheese; butternut squash infused and garnished with winter black truffles; sweet potatoes topped with caviar.

For dessert, the homemade pumpkin ice cream is topped with a private reserve rum-infused eggnog sauce and finished with edible 24-carat gold flakes.

On top of turkey, the deal also includes two tickets to grandstand seats at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, a $5,000 Black Friday shopping spree at Bergdorf Goodman, a two-night stay at the Waldorf Astoria, including door to door limo service.

But after a meal like that, you may just want to walk.
